PBIS/MTSS Tier 3 – An Introduction to Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR)
About The Event
Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR) is an evidence-based practice for developing and implementing individualized behavior support plans for students with challenging behaviors. This “general education Tier 3” intervention emphasizes antecedent strategies (prevention), direct instruction of replacement behaviors (teaching), and positive acknowledgment (reinforcement) rather than focusing on less effective strategies such as punishment and exclusion. Reflect on current “general education Tier 3” practices Take a closer look at the PTR approach and consider how well it complements your current practices Create an action plan for installing PTR and/or using components to enhance your current Tier 3 processes Presenter: Kimberli Breen, Affecting Behavior Change Inc.
