Physics CSET Preparatory Course 2025

Meeting Dates: Mondays & Wednesdays: June: 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18,23, 25, 30 and July: 2 Time: 4 pm to 8:00 pm Starting date and ending date: June 2, 2025 - July 2, 2025 This Physics course is a 40-hour, synchronous, online course designed to prepare high school teachers to pass the Physics CSET so that they may apply for a California Teaching Credential in physics. It is also designed to support any current high school Physics teacher to hone in on their knowledge and pedagogy. This course uses a wide variety of simulations, animations, and other dynamic online tools to illustrate physics principles and engage learners in the application of physics concepts. This course will be taught by Dr. Norm Herr, Professor of Science Education, California State University, Northridge. Dr. Herr directs the science education credential and master’s degree programs at California State University at Northridge. He is a contributing author of the California Science Framework in physics and chemistry, and author of a variety of popular books for science teachers including The Sourcebook for Teaching Science, Hands-on Physics Activities with Real-Life Applications, and Hands-On Chemistry Activities with Real-Life Applications. Dr. Herr is director of the CSUN Math Science Teacher Initiative and has taught numerous CSET-prep courses in general science, physics and chemistry.
