Capacity Grant Training - Supporting Grieving Students: A School-Based Approach (In-Person)
About the Event
This training equips school-based mental health professionals with tools to support students navigating grief and loss. Participants will explore how grief can present across different ages and developmental stages, and how to respond with developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive support. The session will focus on strategies to support students with emerging grief-related needs, as well as those who may require more individualized, intensive care. Attendees will also discuss ways to collaborate with school staff to ensure a coordinated and compassionate response. Participants will leave with practical tools, trauma-informed approaches, and resource ideas to create a supportive environment for grieving students. Participants will: Build confidence in having sensitive conversations with students who are grieving. Discover how to create emotionally safe spaces that help students feel seen and supported during tough times. Enhance your ability to support school-wide responses to loss with compassion and confidence. Intended Audience: This session is ideal for wellness coaches, educators, administrators, and mental health professionals who are part of their LEA Capacity Grant Team and eager to understand the critical components of developing an MTSS system within the context of student behavioral health and sustainability.
