Workshop Level 1.5 - Dive Deeper into Building Thinking Classrooms
About the Event
Do you want to take your implementation of Building Thinking Classrooms to the next level? This workshop style PD will combine learning opportunities around Toolkits 2, 3, and 4 with collaboration, creation time for participants, and opportunities for implementation support from an RCOE Coordinator of Instruction and Implementation. We are grounding the work in the idea that a thinking student is an engaged and learning student. The two day workshop is for participants that are familiar with the ideas of thinking classrooms and want to dive deeper into the ideas in toolkits 2, 3, and 4. Toolkit 2 Focus: Answer keep thinking questions, give check-your-understanding questions, and mobilize knowledge. Toolkit 3 Focus: Use hints and extensions, meaningful notes, and consolidate from the bottom. Toolkit 4 Focus: Evaluate what you value and grade based on data (not points). Follow up sessions at your sites with teams or individual teachers will be scheduled during the two-day PD. These sessions will be with an RCOE Coordinator of Instruction and Implementation. Together, let's modernize mathematics and cultivate a community of empowered, confident, and compassionate mathematics students! This workshop will make explicit connection to how these ideas improve outcomes for English learners and how these ideas connect to Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
