PBIS/MTSS Tier 1 – What to Do When Students Don’t Follow Classroom Rules
About the Event
A common criticism of PBIS is that “there are no consequences for problem behavior.” Join us for a two-part training series as we dispel this myth and clarify how responses to problem behavior (i.e., consequences) exist along a continuum from less to more intensive approaches. These sessions will focus on classroom-level responses to problem behavior, giving participants an opportunity to reflect on the limitations of current practices and learn how to apply effective strategies when prevention efforts aren’t enough. Reflect on current classroom-level responses to problem behavior (i.e., consequences) Assess strengths and opportunities for enhancement Explore examples and non-examples of classroom-level strategies to address problem behavior when prevention efforts aren’t enough Create your own classroom behavior response flowchart Presenters: Denise Granger and Jasmine Fincher, RCOE PBIS Coordinators Intended Audience: Any district and school personnel who support Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and/or Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
